Huawei has quietly released Huawei Y9a, a new y-series smartphone.

It sports a 6.63-inch TFT LCD panel with 2400 by 1080 pixels in resolution. It’s powered by MediaTek Helio G80 processor composed of two high-performance Cortex A75 core CPU and six other low-performance cores.

In African markets, including Kenya, Huawei Y9a will ship with 8GB of memory and 128GB of internal storage. However, some markets will get a less powerful 6GB/128GB model.

At the back is a circular shaped camera module that houses four cameras: a 64-megapixel primary, 8-megapixel secondary ultra-wide, and 2-megapixel lenses for macro and depth sensing. On the front, Huawei Y9a is equipped with a 16-megapixel pop-up camera.

The device doesn’t include the increasingly popular high refresh rate, but the phone supports 40W fast charging technology.

With that said, the battery stores up to 4300 mAh of juice, and it is charged via USB Type C.

The Y9a uses the company’s proprietary technology dubbed HUAWEI SuperCharge, which can take the battery from zero to 70 in 30 minutes. Huawei Y9a, like the recently launched Huawei phones, doesn’t ship with Google applications.

However, Huawei Mobile Services is built-in, which includes the company’s proprietary Google Play Store alternative.

It will be available in three colors; Space Silver, Sakura Pink, and Midnight Black.
